John Read, RIP
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our longest-attending parishioners and great friend John Read.
John was a faithful and committed member of Saint John’s for over 70 years. In that time he took on a great variety of roles, including serving as Subdeacon, as one of our Trustees, and as Vice Chairman of the PCC amongst many other things. He will be sorely missed by us all at Saint John’s, a place he loved dearly.
The Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St John the Baptist, Tuebrook at 12 noon on Thursday 13th April. The committal will follow at Anfield crematorium at 2pm. Mourners are requested to arrive at Church and be seated by 11:55am. The Church will be open from 11am.
Following the Funeral Mass there will be a wake, including a buffet, at St Cecilia's Club, 21-23 Green Lane, Tuebrook, from 2pm. This is just across the road from St John's. Mourners who do not wish to attend the committal are invited to go directly to the wake following the Requiem.
John will be brought into the care of the Co-op Funeralcare, 39 Almonds Green, West Derby, Liverpool, L12 5HP (Tel: 0151 226 4433). He will be received into Church on Wednesday 12th April, at a time to be fixed, when the funeral rites will begin with the Office of the Dead. There will be the opportunity for people to pay their private respects to John in Church that evening.
Please pray for John, and for this parish which mourns for him.
May he be granted eternal rest and may light perpetual shine upon him.
Donations to St John's Church will be very welcome in lieu of floral tributes.
